Any bright ambient light will do. Our RLCD Monitors and Digital Signs love to reflect all kinds of light from their environment. This includes overhead lighting indoors. If you have bright external lights, those also work well with our displays. Depending on the product line, we do have internal front light options as well.

Just like any politician’s response, it depends.

All kidding aside, our reflective LCD technology relies on ambient light, which naturally decreases as the sun sets. To stay visible in those dimmer settings, reflective displays require supplemental lighting (either built-in or external).  

For those who choose to use a reflective display in lower light settings, know that it is possible. It usually just requires the user to make some minor adjustments.

We have two types of products: outdoor digital signage and indoor computer monitors.

Our outdoor digital signage typically thrives outdoors because there is usually plenty of ambient light present. While they can also work  well for certain indoor applications (or when a frontlight is added), that is not their primary scope.

As for our RLCD computer monitors, YES! These are meant for the indoors! It’s not that they won’t work outside, it’s just that they aren’t  geared for weather like our outdoor models. Note that these monitors are popular among people with certain physical conditions, such as eyestrain, headaches, and  migraines, and who associate these symptoms with standard backlit monitors.

Unfortunately, our RLCD Technology currently has some physical limitations in terms of resolution. A higher resolution isn't possible yet in the 32" size (or smaller). 

Yes! Any 12 volt power source will do. That can be a DC battery, plug-in AC power, or even solar panel, if you wish. Our RLCD panels consume less than 6 watts on their own, making them an excellent option for remote, battery-operated applications.

We received a lot of feedback about this topic with our First RLCD Computer Monitor, so we made sure to add a VESA mount to our New rE Monitor along with a re-designed stand, additional HDMI port, USB charging, and 3.5mm audio jack. Eye-friendliness just got better!

Reflective LCD components last much longer than backlit systems because they do not burn out or overheat the same way. However, there is no exact “expiration date” per se. 

We offer a standard 1 year manufacturer's warranty on our indoor RLCD monitors, plus several Extended Warranty options. Our outdoor digital signage comes with select multi-year warranty options. For more details contact sales@sunvisiondiplay.com.

Our Outdoor Signage products are in early production and typically require some application-specific customizations. The lead time is generally 8-12 weeks. However, RUSH options are available for small quantities.

RLCD Computer Monitor

This tech is brand new to the computer monitor industry. It was originally designed by us for Outdoor Signage, but due to the many responses we received from people like you, we created an entirely new product line (read the back story). As most new technologies go, their price point starts out high due to the new product introduction cost. As manufacturing streamlines over time and increased demand, the price should decrease. We are so thankful to all of the early adopters of this technology who are paving the way forward.

Outdoor Digital Signage

When it comes to Outdoor Digital Signage, keep in mind that there is a difference between initial cost and total cost of ownership. 

In general, some components of Reflective LCD Technology come with a higher premium upfront. In short, the difference in technology accounts for differences in cost. The good news is that, over time,  those higher upfront costs equate to long term savings, as our Reflective LCDs are up to 95% more energy efficient than other Outdoor Digital Signage technologies. SVD Digital Signage is also much less likely to need replacing, since there's no backlight and therefore no LED decay.

Yes! Our US -based customers can split up their total amount into 4 interest-free payments with PayPal's "Pay Later" option. Simply choose this option during check out.

Sun Vision Display allows conditional returns/refunds within the first 30 days of product ship date. Elective returns are normally subject to a 15% restocking fee.

Refunds and elective returns are only valid on purchases in which the product was purchased in the contiguous USA or the United Kingdom and not shipped outside of these regions after being purchased. Buyers assume all risks when taking our product beyond any address in the USA or the UK to which we ship.

Sun Vision Display products are warrantied against manufacturer defects/damage for up to 1-year from the date of purchase. For added peace of mind, you can extend our Standard 1-Year Warranty for up to 3 years from date of purchase with one of our Extended Warranty plans.
